Narendra Modi will visit Brazil on 13–14 November to attend the BRICS summit, where trade, investment and terrorism issues are expected to be at the center of the negotiations. During his visit to Brazil, Modi will also hold a bilateral meeting with President of Brazil, Zaire Bolsonaro.
TS Thirumurthy, Secretary of Economic Relations at the Ministry of External Affairs, told that Prime Minister Modi will arrive in Brazil on 13 November to attend the 11th BRICS conference. This time the theme of the conference has been 'Economic Development for Innovative Future'.
BRICS is a five-nation organization that includes Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Modi will hold a bilateral meeting during the day and in the evening will participate in the closing ceremony of the BRICS Trade Forum by other BRICS leaders. After this, the Prime Minister will attend the reception and photo session after which the President will participate in a dinner hosted by Bolsonaro in honor of the leaders.
He informed that a large number of business representatives from India are expected to attend, especially at the event of BRICS trade platform where business communities from five countries will gather.
Tirumurthy said that on the second day of the visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will take part in the restructured session. This session will be followed by a plenary session of BRICS in which inter-BRICS cooperation will be discussed on the economic development of BRICS society. The group represents the world's 3.6 billion population, which is about half the world's population.
The combined GDP of the member countries is approximately 16 thousand 600 billion dollars.
