NEW DELHI: Nearly seven lakh vacant posts in various central government departments have been announced by the Center. "As of March 1 last year, there were a total of 6,83,000 823 posts lying vacant," Union Minister of State for Jitendra Singh Singh told Rajya Sabha. In another reply, the minister said that there are also vacancies in the Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs) and other Backward Classes (OBC) backlog reserved posts. According to the written reply to the Rajya Sabha, 5,74,289 jobs in Group C and 89,638 in Group B would have to be replaced by 19,896 jobs in Group A.
SSC (Staff Selection Commission) has started the process of recruiting 1, 05,338 posts for the year 2019-20 as per the information provided by the respective central government departments. The Ministry of Railways has issued a notification for the recruitment of 1,27,573 jobs under the Centralized Employment Notification (CEN) for Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) in 2017-18 to replace 1,27,573 posts of Group Sea Level I posts. More gaps were created in these two years.
Five more CE notifications will be issued in 2018-19 to replace the vacancies in Group Se, Level-I, 56 thousand 138 lakhs, the Minister said. The notification said that 19,522 vacancies should be filled in different grades, rather than being replaced by SSC. "We are in the process of recruiting vacancies to fill vacancies through SSC, RRB and CNN," Singh said. As of January 1, 2019, 1,713 (SC) backlog spaces for SCs, 2,530 backlog spaces for STs and 1,773 backlog spaces for OBCs have not been filled, the minister said.
